Positive Songs for Negative People
The title of Frank Turners 2015 I like the album that has just been released so much that I made it the topic of the new OHRENOEFFNER.

It doesn't matter whether you see yourself as an optimist or a pessimist. - In the current situation, and I mean that from a global perspective - that is, humanly (!), We need a lot (solidarity, mindfulness and love of truth) and some less (fear, Authority and attempts to divide) - but what perhaps each of us can use at the moment is positive music.
Something that helps us through the day or at the end of the day Day forgiving is true. Something that gives us the deep trust that everything will be fine in the end. Sure, that's the essence of music and but there are artists / albums / songs that obviously can do that.

Now, of course, you could say: Okay, then from now on we will only hear Mozart. and yes, that's right - practically everything from Mozart is so fundamentally uplifting, positive and general human filled with love that you don't really need anything else ...

In the OHRENOEFFNER we are, apart from Mozart, yes, yes overwhelmingly
with Contemporary music and there is always one or the other in the sense of "Positive Song for Negative People" - and at the same time there should always be something new to discover. Let's get started.
Albums
- New friends -
ten songs are short stories of outsiders, of being abandoned and of new beginnings. Sometimes it's folk numbers leaning back like "Saturday", sometimes middle class rockers with Motown influences ("Why won't you tell me what").
Josh Rouse - Nashville
Josh Rouse? Exactly - hence "New Friends".
The album "Nashville" has been out for a while, more precisely from 2005 - but, since hardly anyone knows Josh Rouse, it fits in well here.
Succeeds on this small, light album For him, which rarely happens: namely, to bring songwriting, arrangement and sound together in such a way that the songs already feel familiar the first time you hear them - but by no means in the sense of plagiarism, but independent and with real recognition value.
"Don't talk about cities
There are cities with which one automatically associates something. Especially if you've never been there yourself. So San Francisco is the eternal hippie city, Seattle is the home of grunge and Nashville is this relaxed southern metropolis, where you sit with a whiskey on the veranda of your house and play your neighbors a little on the acoustic guitar. Josh Rouse, who named his fifth album after the capital of the US state Tennessee, is also aware of this cliché .
He lived in Nashville for ten years, after completing the record he left the country metropolis.
But of course the successor to his masterpiece "1972" is only marginally about cities. At the center of the
Here is a little promo video for the album
The Elected - Sun, Sun, Sun
The Elected have an album here that delivered a positivity and affirmation of life radiates that is neither ingratiated nor too self-referential . One of the albums that you can keep looping during the lighter and warmer times of the year.
"Some people say yes, once you start listening to country, it slowly comes to an end with you. But what about people who suddenly start doing country? Really with pedal steel, rodeo beat and cowboy hat?
Blake Sennett and Jenny Lewis wanted to know. Two people who have so much in common that they will confuse themselves with each other every now and then. Both are usually a part of Rilo Kiley, and both are actually far too young to die. To get around the confusion, they were neatly separated: each one an album, each at least a little country. Same starting position, (almost) the same release date. And now please swing your hooves ...
... But it should be noted that the boys enjoy their men’s evening on "Sun, sun, sun" on a grand scale. The singing is done with full throats, often by everyone at the same time. The melodies Hop and row happily over the fingerboard and keyboard. And through a waltz like "Did me good", which in front of the prance also has the Choleric revealed in Sennett, the strutted
Gang on a big foot anyway. This record has nothing to do with it.
One can wonder at all what a brilliant playwright has been lost to Sennett.
Here he now deals with thoroughly composed songs, leaves plenty of space for wind instruments and, despite all country grounding, always keeps the back door open towards ecstasy. For example, "Fireflies in a steel mill" is one of those songs that can't be held at the end. And when "Biggest star" jazzes up to the great defiant head anthem on this album on the third attempt, we want to be carried away to make an election promise: If you give this band your vote and are not satisfied later, we will send the boss over personally. Then he mows your lawn. "

Pat Metheny Group - TRAVELS
To write in some detail about the "Pat Metheny Group" would fill a newsletter of its own - let alone about Pat Metheny himself.
He is one of the influential jazz musicians, 20th century and too the
few exceptional artists who cannot be classified are unbelievable.
Musicians who, on the one hand, absorb an almost inexhaustible range of musical influences, integrate them into their own musical language and which you can immediately after two bars recognized, you can count on one hand. You notice, I get into raptures ...;-)
The album "TRAVELS", 198 3 appeared ,
belongs to the series of the greatest live recordings one can hear (also immediately received a Grammy for "Best Jazz Fusion Performance").

The most impressive thing about the album is, on the one hand, the amazing thing Harmony of vital, energetic interplay and craftsmanship precision; on the other hand we experience that here The band's oeuvre in a variety that no studio album can compete with.
At the same time, we witness a snapshot of the band's first major change: the expansion of a quartet, which has always been looking for much more anyway sound, there to one large-scale Big band in the literal sense of the word, the in the course of to work with incredibly talented young musicians over and over again over the next few years and thereby its ensemble sound as well as its musical Development until 2005 with the album "The Way Up" preliminary climax leads.
90 minutes of pure listening pleasure.

Fleetwood Mac - Rumors
This album had to come sometime ... And right now it might be particularly fitting.
Although the time of origin, as you know, a very problematic one for the band members among themselves was - or maybe because of it - became a here milestone created by pop music - last but not least, one of those who make you happy. The light can only be found in the dark ...
“ Against all odds
A miracle and a milestone in music history
Actually, it's a miracle that this album comes about at all. Because 1976 is the purest disaster year for Fleetwood Mac.

Rubble - wherever you look
As a reminder: The band consists of five members: singer Christine McVie and bassist John McVie. You can tell by the name: The two are married. But after eight years, the marriage is falling apart right now, when a new album is planned. They don't talk to each other anymore - and only make an exception purely professionally - when it comes to music.
Then there are singer Stevie Nicks and guitarist Lindsey Buckingham. The two are a couple. In fact. But they are separating too!
The fifth in this unlucky league: drummer Mick Fleetwood. It's hard to believe, but he too separates from his wife. He's just about to find out that she cheated on him - with his best friend of all people!
Phoenix from the ashes
Five band members - and all five are currently experiencing the worst possible phase of their lives! Everyone separates - but are more or less forced to work together in a studio for hours, days and months. What madness! And what luck in misery! As with many other artists, the same applies here: The greatest works of art are created in a dejected mood - and none of the musicians is aware - at least as they say in later interviews - that with RUMORS every single title (really everyone!) From the rubble and new ones Hopes of her life.
Speaking titles
As absurd as it seems, the troupe even manages to use the titles themselves that they use for their pieces of music choose to give clear indications of one's own state of mind. "Second Hand News" as an opener makes it clear how you feel when you are only secondary in life of the other
is. "Dreams" is about separation - and the dream of starting something new. "Never going back again" is so clear as a title that you don't have to interpret it big. The same applies to "Go your own way" or "The Chain".
These talking titles are amazing. But what is amazing is what comes out of it in the end. All five - however shaken they may be - know only one thing at the beginning of the studio sessions: There shouldn't be any gap fillers on the new album (it's album number eleven). Every single song should have the quality of a possible single release. And this is exactly what they do.
Overwhelming success
There is hardly a band that - and the expression must be allowed - puked itself so emotionally on a record as Fleetwood Mac did with RUMORS. And that's exactly what makes this album a milestone - both for the band and for the music world. No gap fillers. Melodies that "sit down" straight away. Arrangements that look opulent thanks to the crisp drums, but are basically chosen extremely economically. - Rumors (and "rumors" translates as "rumors"!) About the well-being of the band ensure phenomenal numbers for pre-orders.
When the LP came out in 1977, it was almost like a dam broke. Record sales everywhere. Up to Michael Jackson's "Thriller", Rumors is considered to be the most commercially successful album of all time. - In the years and decades after this success there have been repeated dissolution phenomena at Fleetwood Mac - but also reunions again and again. And that until today ...

WAMozart - oboe tip vol. 1-3
Alexei Utkin & Hermitage Chamber Orchestra
Mozart's music is now supposed to go through a excellent recording should be mentioned in more detail .
We usually associate Mozart's music with his operas, symphonies, of course his Requiem and his string quartets and much more - less compositions for oboe. So there is also a seldom heard one here Darling in
Mozart's Discover oeuvre.
It is well known that interpreting Mozart's music is a must to the S harshest:
Greatest childish playfulness, free-floating detachment and deepest seriousness about life - all at the same time; that never really works, but sometimes almost and that is really a lot.
Alexei Utkin and the Hermitage Chamber Orchestra come across as cheerful and light-footed as if they wanted to say: everything is Good. Erf rueful you so just to nem dei life.
In addition, the recordings are also still produced in great sound quality.

Incidentally, the cover shown above belongs to Vol.3, which also contains the famous clarinet concerto in A major K622 (recorded with oboe, of course).
